I called my friend Sheri one morning and said, "I think it's time.  I think we should build a well."  She agreed, jumped in, and the project was begun.  Simple as that...two women saying it out loud, "Let's build a well."   The first domino tipped over lightly.  It was the start of something incredible.  It was the start of a miracle.  

Our opening bake sale fundraiser was in Highland on October 8th, and the response from our community was amazing.  We then passed the baton to the McConkie family who hosted a bake sale of their own in West Bountiful.  Again...amazing.  We had several very generous private donations appear, and before we knew it, the prospect of clean water in Fawomanye was becoming very, very real. 

We dreamed of being able to raise the funds in one year's time, thinking that maybe, just maybe, next fall we would be able to have the money in place for Fawomanye.  But the dominoes were moving faster and faster...more and more people catching the spark.  Hearts have been touched, and when the McConkie family said to me, "Let's finish this thing...this year," I learned to believe that it's actually possible.  

Soon after the McConkie's launched plans for the upcoming Holiday Boutique, we learned that the best time for building the well will be at the end of the dry season...March or April in Ghana.  It was clear that this well was meant to be built sooner. 

Now our goal is to have all of the funds in place by February so that drilling can begin as early as March 2013.  Imagine a community with clean water!  Imagine happier days and better health and opportunities for education and so many things that will come as a result of clean water in Fawomanye!   I have no doubt that we can do this.
